Take Away Messages

Throughout the semester, while taking TE 150, i feel that my mind has been opened up to a new world of opportunities. This class allowed me to not only think of the things we learned through an aspiring teachers perspective, but also as the potential students eyes. One of the most important take home messages that i feel like people should take away from the class is that all students learn at a different level. While the teacher may be frustrated with the class, it is almost a guarantee that the student is even more frustrated than you will be. Patience and keeping a level head at all times is very important. And keeping learning history in mind, not all students are encouraged at home to read more than the given assignment, or practice math as much as others. Each student is to be dealt with differently and certain situations are to be dealt with individually. But just remember, that all kids learn at different speeds and levels. Another important take home message is to always consider what you would want to have in your teacher. Growing up, there are all different varieties of teachers. What made you love your favorite teacher? Don't forget about those qualities. And always try to bring them into your lesson plan. TE 150 is a great opportunity to really find yourself and to reflect on why you want to be a teacher.

  1. Love the 9th day (and the snow day!) Funny :-)
Your reflections are genuine, insightful and your advice is good (though I don't think students can just sit in class and be successful...as you go on to say, there are other things to do too.)
Thanks for your work, here Kaitlin.
