Theories are a very important part of knowing why and how we learn things the way we do. One very important theory is Vygotsky's theory of scaffolding. This theory is important because it shows that children learn from their peers. If you have a student who is an expert reader, and a student who is not a very good reader, set up a buddy system. I will implement this theory in my classroom by setting up time out of each day to assess what level each of my student it as at the end of the lesson. With the students who were at a lower level, set them up with a student who is not struggling and is going above what is expected. Over time, students who are not experts can attain more of the thinking load for themselves. This idea of scaffolding helps a student to understand where the other students are coming from. It is significant in the classroom to set up positive role models for students to follow. Another important theory is Kohlberg's theory of moral development. Understanding the way your students develop morally, can help you understand how delicately you need to handle certain situations with them. There is a consistent pattern of development that is across cultures and religions. And because of this, morals develop differently within different people. And when teaching your students, keep all of those facts into mind.

Advice
TE 150, is not a class where you will be successfull if you just sit in class and take notes. This class allows you to think about the big ideas, and how you want to apply it to real world situations. To learn the most, come prepared to class. READ the book and the extra material that is assigned. Also, do the homework that is given to you at the end of each class period. This allows you to prepare for the exam, but it also allows you to see it in a situation where you will probably be faced with a scenario like the ones given in the homework. This class gives you many opportunities to put different theories and ideas into context. It also allows you to reflect on your learning experiences. So i guess to be as successfull as you can in this class, really put into it what you want to get out of it. If you want to be a good teacher, make sure that everything you do in the class is of quality. Take advantage of the knowledge your classmates have about a subject. Stay involved with class discussions, go to class, listen to the professors advice. They have way more experience than you do, so talk to them. Communicate with them and your classmates. But most importantly ENJOY THE CLASS!! Its a great one!!

Take Away Messages
Throughout the semester, while taking TE 150, i feel that my mind has been opened up to a new world of opportunities. This class allowed me to not only think of the things we learned through an aspiring teachers perspective, but also as the potential students eyes. One of the most important take home messages that i feel like people should take away from the class is that all students learn at a different level. While the teacher may be frustrated with the class, it is almost a guarantee that the student is even more frustrated than you will be. Patience and keeping a level head at all times is very important. And keeping learning history in mind, not all students are encouraged at home to read more than the given assignment, or practice math as much as others. Each student is to be dealt with differently and certain situations are to be dealt with individually. But just remember, that all kids learn at different speeds and levels. Another important take home message is to always consider what you would want to have in your teacher. Growing up, there are all different varieties of teachers. What made you love your favorite teacher? Don't forget about those qualities. And always try to bring them into your lesson plan. TE 150 is a great opportunity to really find yourself and to reflect on why you want to be a teacher.
